Updated 14th April 2026:

Looking for the Emirates A380 seat map and the best seats on board?
Here’s a clear breakdown of all cabin layouts, seat types, and which seats to pick (or avoid) before you book.

The first time I stepped onboard an Emirates A380, I immediately understood why this aircraft has become such a symbol of long-haul luxury. The space. The quiet cabin. The onboard bar. Even in Economy, it feels different.

But not all Emirates A380s are the same. Some seats are quiet, private, and spacious. Others are right next to toilets, high-traffic areas, or have limited recline.

Let’s start with the full Emirates A380 seat map so you can quickly see how the aircraft is laid out.

How to Tell Which Emirates A380 You’re Flying

Emirates operates several A380 configurations, so it’s important to check before choosing your seat. The easiest way is to open the seat map during booking. If you see a Premium Economy cabin (2-4-2 layout at the front of the main deck), you’re on a newer or retrofitted aircraft.

If Premium Economy is not shown, you’re likely on an older three-class or high-density version. This quick check takes seconds and is the most reliable way to identify your aircraft when booking directly with Emirates.

Keep in mind that aircraft can change last minute, so it’s always worth checking your seat map again closer to departure.

How I Double Check Seat Layout Before Booking

Before we take a look at the seat maps of all the Emirates A380 variants, if you want to double check aircraft layout or quickly confirm seat configuration before booking, tools like Seats.aero can help you check seat map and availability data across multiple airlines in one place. It’s also useful earlier in the planning stage because the same tool can help spot when award seats open across partner programs, saving a lot of manual searching between airline websites.

In their seat map viewer, you can see which seats are already taken and which remain available without having to go through the full booking process on the airline website. This makes it much easier to compare different dates, choose your preferred seat, or make sure couples and families can sit together. For anyone who likes to plan ahead, it can be an incredibly valuable tool.

If you’re wondering whether the paid version is worth it, I wrote a full breakdown here: Is Seats.aero Worth It. I personally use the Pro version because it shows live award availability, then I confirm directly on the airline website before booking.

If you want to go one step further, tools like ExpertFlyer allow you to monitor seat availability and set alerts for specific flights, so you don’t have to keep checking manually.

Emirates A380 Configurations Explained

Over the years, Emirates has operated multiple cabin layouts, including four class aircraft with First Class suites and showers, three class versions, and high density two class aircraft. In 2026, the airline is beginning to convert those former two class aircraft into a new three class layout with Premium Economy added.

In this guide, I break down every Emirates A380 seat map configuration, (Airbus A380-800) including the newly retrofitted high density layout, so you can confidently pick the best seat for your flight.

If you’re comparing Emirates aircraft, it’s also worth looking at the Emirates Boeing 777-300ER seat map, which has several different cabin configurations depending on the route.

Which Emirates A380s have been retrofitted with premium economy?

Emirates is progressively retrofitting its A380 fleet with Premium Economy as part of a multi billion dollar upgrade programme. The retrofitted aircraft are primarily deployed on selected long haul routes, particularly high demand sectors across Europe, North America, Asia and Australia. A table of the routes can be seen below.

I recently boarded EK 409 from Melbourne to Dubai and was pleasantly surprised to see that it was one of the refurbished A380’s. It is a non-stop flight with just over 14 hours flying time. It’s wonderful that Emirates has rolled out these newer aircraft on these routes – although i know EK241 to Toronto with the same amount of flying time still flies the older version.

The refurbishment programme also extends to much of the Boeing 777-300ER fleet, with Premium Economy being rolled out progressively. Looking ahead, Emirates’ future widebody plans include the upcoming Emirates 777X, which will further modernise the long-haul fleet.

How can I know which Emirates A380 aircraft have been retrofitted?

You can identify Emirates’ retrofitted Airbus A380-800 aircraft by checking if they feature Premium Economy seating. All retrofitted A380s have had Premium Economy added as part of the refurbishment.

Check the Seat Map – When selecting your seat during booking, look for a Premium Economy cabin. If it’s available, the aircraft is retrofitted.

2026 High Density A380 Retrofit Update

In February 2026, Emirates confirmed that all 15 of its high density two class A380 aircraft are being reconfigured into a new three class layout.

These aircraft originally featured 58 Business Class seats and 557 Economy seats (615 total), without First Class or Premium Economy.

The newly retrofitted configuration includes:

• 76 Business Class
• 56 Premium Economy
• 437 Economy Class
• Total: 569 seats

The first upgraded aircraft will enter service on 14 April 2026 between Dubai and Amman (EK903/904), before rotating to Prague. By November 2026, all former two class A380 aircraft are expected to be converted.

If you are booking an Emirates A380, checking the seat map during booking remains the most reliable way to confirm which version you are flying.

Emirates A380 Aircraft Configurations

The Emirates Airbus A380 currently operates in four main cabin layouts:

Four Class (First, Business, Premium Economy & Economy)
Three Class Ultra & Mid Range (First, Business & Economy)
• *Two Class High Density (Business & Economy only) *being phased out
Retrofitted High Density Three Class (Business, Premium Economy & Economy – rolling out during 2026)

Emirates previously operated 15 high density two class A380 aircraft with 615 total seats. As confirmed in February 2026, these aircraft are now being progressively converted into a new three-class layout featuring 76 Business, 56 Premium Economy and 437 Economy seats.

Until all aircraft complete refurbishment (expected by November 2026), both versions may still appear in booking.

While the overall upper and lower deck structure remains similar, seat numbers and cabin positioning vary between layouts. If choosing a specific seat is important, always check the live seat map during booking.

How Many Airbus A380s does Emirates have?

As of 2026, Emirates is still the world’s largest operator of the Airbus A380-800.

Emirates owns a fleet of 123 Airbus A380 aircraft, making it the largest operator of the A380 in the world. In December 2021 Emirates received its 123rd Airbus A380.

It currently has 116 in service.

And even though Airbus stopped producing the A380, Emirates is nowhere near retiring it. The airline has now signed a new agreement with Rolls Royce to start doing its own maintenance and overhaul work on the Trent 900 engines from 2027. Emirates is even building a dedicated engine facility in Dubai to keep its superjumbo fleet flying well into the 2040s; a smart move when you’re the only airline still operating the A380 at this scale.

Travellers planning trips between Australia and Europe sometimes explore alternative routes via Asia or other global hubs, particularly when comparing airline products and connection options.

Planning Your Connection Through Dubai

In most cases (unless you’re flying one of Emirates’ Fifth Freedom routes), your journey will involve Dubai either as your departure point, your transit hub or your stopover before continuing to your final destination.

Depending on your class of travel and your layover time, Emirates may offer a complimentary hotel under its Dubai Connect programme.

When Dubai Connect isn’t available, I turn the layover into a mini stay and book the Shangri-La Dubai. Watching the Burj Khalifa light up from the room never loses its appeal, and it transforms what could be a tedious connection into a surprisingly enjoyable break between long-haul sectors.

If you’re planning your own Dubai stopover, you can compare Dubai hotel options on Trip.com to see what fits your budget and connection time best, whether that’s a simple overnight near the airport or something more indulgent in the city.

Private Suites

A hallmark of the Emirates First Class experience on the A380-800 is the private suite. Each suite offers complete privacy, with sliding doors, soft leather seating, and mood lighting. These suites can be converted into fully lie-flat beds, allowing passengers to sleep comfortably during long-haul flights. Passengers can also enjoy meals at any time, thanks to the dine-on-demand service. The menu offers a wide range of gourmet dishes, prepared by world-class chefs and served on fine china. A large personal TV screen with a high-definition entertainment system ensures that passengers have endless entertainment options. I love that you can store your carry on baggage inside your suite. Just ensure you know the carry on baggage allowance with Emirates to avoid your hand luggage being sent into cargo.

First class may seem like a luxury reserved for the ultra-wealthy, but it doesn’t have to break the bank.

By mastering the points game, you can fly in first class for free using frequent flyer miles and credit card rewards. Alternatively, you can experience the luxury of Emirates first class on a more affordable fifth freedom flight, where airlines offer special routes between two foreign countries, often at lower prices.

If you’re considering Emirates First Class redemptions, note that children under 9 are now restricted.

With a bit of strategy, first class is within reach. When redeeming points or miles for an airline ticket be sure to use a miles redemption calculator so you can ensure you are getting good redemption value. And remember, safeguard your points with an easy password to remember but hard for people to guess to protect your rewards from unauthorized transfers.

The Amex Membership program has Emirates as one of the airline partners. It’s therefore easy to transfer amex points to Emirates with the points landing instantly. However you should be mindful of the transfer rate. There is a further devaluation from 15th December 2025. The new transfer rate will be 4:1.

If you are considering flying first class with Emirates, their game changer 777-300ER first class product will have you in awe. This is totally different experience with private suites being floor to ceiling. However you must know the Emirates game changer routes as they only fly a handful of them.

First Class Dining

In addition to the private suite and Shower Spa, First Class passengers have access to an exceptional dining experience. Meals are served on demand, allowing passengers to enjoy a fine dining experience whenever they prefer. This means that they can order their breakfast meal for example, even an hour before landing.

emirates airbus a380-800 seat plan First Class

The extensive menu includes dishes inspired by various cuisines, prepared with the finest ingredients. Emirates’ attention to detail extends to every part of the meal service, from the quality of the ingredients to the presentation of the food. Passengers can complement their meal with an extensive selection of wines, champagnes, and spirits from around the world. All of this if you have space left and haven’t over indulged in one of their lounges prior to your flight.

Emirates Lounges

Emirates’ ground services are equally exceptional and reflect the same premium standard offered in the air. First and Business Class passengers have access to Emirates-branded lounges worldwide, not just in Dubai — a major advantage over airlines that rely on third-party lounges. For example, while flying recently out of Istanbul, I experienced the crowded IGA Lounge which felt more like a bus terminal with queues everywhere. This is exactly what Emirates works hard to avoid: ensuring its premium passengers receive a calm, luxurious experience at every touchpoint of the journey.

When i am on their flight out of Melbourne I ensure to get the Emirates Lounge at Melbourne Airport ahead of time. In fact their new Bangkok Lounge is the biggest outside of Dubai and i have just had the pleasure of visiting. Exquisite is an understatement. You can check out here the photos and walkthrough of the New Emirates Lounge in Bangkok.

Emirates Chauffer Service

Another standout ground service is Emirates’ complimentary Chauffeur-drive service, available to First and Business Class passengers in many cities. While this service is no longer included on redemption (award) tickets, I was still offered a car upon arrival in Dubai for an additional fee. That was in June 2025. The cost was 195 AED (about AUD $85) for a 20-minute ride to my hotel — almost triple the price of a standard Dubai taxi, which would have been around 70 AED (about AUD $30). Still, for those seeking a seamless, luxury experience door-to-door, it may be worth the convenience.

Emirates A380 Shower Spa

One of the most extraordinary and cool features offered by Emirates on its Airbus A380-800 is the Shower Spa, available exclusively to First Class passengers. This unique amenity allows passengers to freshen up mid-flight, which is a rare experience in commercial air travel. The Shower Spa is located at the front of the upper deck of the aircraft and is equipped with a walk-in shower, luxury toiletries, and soft towels.

A380 Shower Spa Emirates

Passengers are given a specific time slot of 30 minutes to use the facility, and the shower itself has a five-minute water limit, which is more than enough for a quick refresh. After showering, passengers can unwind in the comfortable seating area or return to their private suite, feeling rejuvenated and ready for the rest of their journey.

Best Seats First Class:

Seat 1A is highly prized by aviation enthusiasts, carrying a certain symbolic value as it marks the very front of the plane, representing the pinnacle of air travel. For many, sitting in 1A feels like a special achievement, both literally and figuratively considered the “number one” seat on the aircraft.

Having checked it off my bucket list, I no longer aim for seat 1A. Instead, I prefer a bit more privacy by choosing a seat just behind, like 2A or 2J. These seats offer more distance from the spa/shower, and restrooms, while still ensuring timely service, particularly on early flights departing from Melbourne. I’m eager to have a quick bite to eat, rest and wake up with plenty of time to enjoy the cabin, its entertainment and indulge in the culinary experience.

Emirates A380 Business Class Seat Map

In Business Class, passengers on the Emirates Airbus A380-800 can enjoy fully flatbed seats, designed for maximum comfort on long-haul flights. These seats are arranged in a 1-2-1 configuration, ensuring that every passenger has direct aisle access. They are not like the Qsuites as seen on Qatar Airways A350-900 or JAL A350 1000 private suites in business. They do however still offer an acceptable level of privacy. Each seat is equipped with a large personal screen, offering an extensive range of entertainment options through Emirates’ ICE system.

A quick comfort tip if you actually want real sleep in Business Class: block out the cabin noise properly. The supplied Emirates headphones are fine, but I still prefer my own noise cancelling headphones because they seal better and make it easier to switch off, especially on overnight flights.

emirates airbus a380-800 seat plan Business Class

The seats also come with adjustable lighting, a personal mini-bar, and plenty of storage space for personal belongings. For those looking to rest, the seat can be reclined into a fully flat bed, complete with a mattress, blanket, and pillow.

emirates airbus a380-800 seat plan Business Class

Passengers in business class are given Bvlgari amenity kits as well as signature pyjamas. Emirates generally states pyjamas are provided to flights longer than 9 hours. However they handed them out on my night flight from Hong Kong to Dubai which was just over 7 hours. That was in June 2024. I also received a pair on my flight from Bangkok to Dubai in June 2025.

Aisle Window Seat VS True Window Seat

Onboard the Emirates A380 business class cabin, there are two types of window seats. The true window seat is positioned directly next to the window, offering a view outside. The compartment and drink bar located on the right side of the seat. This setup provides a more private and cozy feel. The aisle window seat, on the other hand, is positioned closer to the aisle. The compartment and drink bar are next to the window. Though it’s still a window seat, the aisle position gives it less privacy compared to the true window seat.

💡 Locking In the Seat You Actually Want

Finding the best seat on the Emirates A380 is one thing, but actually securing it can be another challenge, especially on busy long-haul routes.

If your preferred seat is not available straight away, tools like ExpertFlyer allow you to monitor seat availability and set alerts so you don’t miss out when it opens up.

If on a window seat the odd numbers offer the true window seat so i would generally choose 9A through to 14A. This ensures I get served more quickly, especially on night flights. Quick disembarkation is another factor I consider, along with staying in a quieter area away from the galleys, restrooms, and onboard bar, which is a top priority for me.

💡 Quick Travel Safety Reminder: Business class comfort isn’t just about the seat. While you’re catching up on emails and messaging over Wi-Fi, stay secure with NordVPN — it keeps your connection private and also lets you stream your favourite shows overseas without restrictions.

If flying as a couple or with friends then the middle seats paired together are a great option. This has a divider down the middle which can be lowered at any time. You would be looking at the odd number Rows.

The even number rows have the compartment in the middle and are direct aisle seats. These are ideal for solo travellers who either did not get a window seat or did not want one.

Emirates A380 Business Class Dining

Business Class passengers can also enjoy a high-quality dining experience onboard the Airbus A380-800. While not as elaborate as the First Class offering, the menu still features gourmet meals, freshly prepared and served on elegant tableware.

Passengers are given a choice of starters, mains, and desserts, along with a wide selection of beverages. The meals are served at designated times, but snacks and drinks are available throughout the flight. The combination of excellent food, fine wines, and attentive service makes dining in Business Class a truly enjoyable experience.

Emirates A380 Onboard Lounge and Bar

One of the most popular features of the Emirates Airbus A380-800 for both First and Business Class passengers is the onboard lounge and bar. Located at the rear of the upper deck, this space is designed for passengers to socialize, relax, and enjoy a selection of snacks and beverages during their flight.

Emirates First Class Bar

The bar offers a wide range of premium drinks, including cocktails, champagne, and spirits. The lounge area features comfortable seating, mood lighting, and large windows, allowing passengers to stretch their legs and enjoy a change of scenery during the flight. The warm and inviting atmosphere makes it an ideal spot to take a break from your seat, grab a drink, and chat with fellow passengers or simply unwind.

Emirates A380 Economy Class Seat Map & Best Seats

The Airbus A380-800 economy seat map has a 3-4-3 layout on the main deck. While First and Business Class receive the most attention, Emirates also ensures that passengers in Economy Class on the Airbus A380-800 enjoy a comfortable and enjoyable experience.

emirates airbus a380-800 seat plan economy

The seats in Economy Class are designed with comfort in mind, featuring adjustable headrests, ample legroom, and personal entertainment screens.

emirates airbus a380-800 seat plan economy Class

Passengers have access to the same extensive entertainment system as those in premium cabins, offering hundreds of movies, TV shows, and music options. In addition, the seats are equipped with USB ports, allowing passengers to charge their devices during the flight.

Best Seats Emirates A380 800 Economy Class:

If you are after more leg room then the obvious options are Rows 53 and 80. If you are after extra leg room and a more private seating of 2 then Row 67 offers this. Just be mindful of the misaligned windows in these seats.

If you are travelling the 2 class version of the A380 (Business & Economy) then you have the opportunity to book a seat on the upper deck where the configuration is 2-4-2 and sits in front of the business class cabin. In this case your best seats are in Row 24 and Row 34 which is the exit row. If you are travelling with kids or an infant and require a bassinet seat, these are located on Row 24, 25 & Row 34.

Small Fixes for Less Than Perfect Seats

Even on the Emirates A380, I prefer to control my own setup rather than rely entirely on the built-in screen. One small item I often pack is a compact tray table phone holder. It clips securely onto the seatback area and raises your device to eye level, which is far more comfortable than looking down at a tray table for hours.

You can adjust the height, swivel it to the perfect angle, and even attach it to your carry-on handle while waiting at the gate. It is surprisingly versatile for something so small.

If you like watching your own downloaded content instead of the onboard screen, it genuinely improves the experience. On a 14 hour sector, small upgrades make a big difference.

Economy Class Dining

In Economy Class, passengers are served a selection of meals and beverages during the flight. The meals are well-prepared and cater to a range of tastes, with options for vegetarian, vegan, and other special dietary requirements. The meal service typically includes a starter, a main course, and a dessert, accompanied by a selection of beverages. Passengers can also request additional drinks or snacks from the cabin crew during the flight. Despite being in the lower fare class, the meal quality and service in Economy Class on Emirates’ A380-800 is often praised for its variety and attention to detail.

Emirates A380 Premium Economy Seat Map

Emirates has been rolling out Premium Economy across select four class A380s and newly retrofitted high density aircraft, offering a new level of comfort between Economy and Business Class. This cabin features:

  • Reclining seats with extra legroom and wider seats compared to Economy
  • Enhanced dining options, served on china tableware
  • Larger entertainment screens
  • Priority boarding and dedicated check-in

Premium Economy provides a more luxurious experience at a price point between Economy and Business Class, offering travellers a middle-ground option. This has also been unveiled as part of the new Emirates A350-900 cabin classes.

emirates airbus a380-800 seat plan Premium Economy Class
emirates airbus a380-800 seat plan Premium Economy Class
emirates airbus a380-800 seat plan Premium Economy Class

Emirates plans to expand this offering across more of their A380s in the coming years. It has also introduced it on board some of their Boeing 777’s.

Best Seats Premium Economy Class: Row 33 is an exit row seat and hence provides more leg room if this is what you are looking for. The seating configuration of 2-4-2 in premium economy is certainly much better than the 3-4-3 in economy.

Entertainment and Connectivity

The ICE Entertainment System

Regardless of which class you’re flying in, the Emirates Airbus A380-800 offers a top-tier entertainment system known as ICE (Information, Communication, Entertainment). This system provides passengers with access to a vast library of movies, TV shows, music, and games. The system is updated regularly, ensuring that there is always something new to watch or listen to. Each seat is equipped with a large, high-definition screen, allowing passengers to enjoy their entertainment with the best possible picture quality. The system is intuitive and easy to navigate, ensuring that passengers of all ages can make the most of it during their flight.

In-Flight Wi-Fi

Emirates also offers in-flight Wi-Fi on its Airbus A380-800, allowing passengers to stay connected during their flight. This is particularly useful for passengers on long-haul flights who wish to stay in touch with family, friends, or colleagues during their journey. The Wi-Fi is suitable for browsing the web, checking emails, and using social media. It may not be fast enough for heavy streaming or large downloads unless the Starlink is available.

One thing that catches people out on long haul is arriving with flat devices. I always travel with a universal travel adapter (and a spare cable) so I’m not hunting for chargers in airports or hotel lobbies.

Starlink Wi-Fi

Emirates is giving the A380 another huge boost with the arrival of free, ultra-fast Starlink Wi-Fi. Starting early 2026, the A380 will become the world’s first aircraft to fly with three Starlink antennas, delivering stronger coverage and more bandwidth across all cabins. This means real, ground quality internet at cruising altitude, fast enough for streaming, video calls, gaming, and working without interruptions.

Emirates will retrofit all A380s and 777s as part of its massive 232 aircraft programme, but the A380 takes centre stage with this industry first connectivity upgrade. Live TV is also returning over Starlink (first on personal devices, then on seat-back screens). If you already loved the A380 for the bar, the showers, and the space, now you can add “actual high speed Wi-Fi” to that list.

*Just don’t be part of the most annoying things people do on planes. (That annoying passenger everyone can hear on the video call… including the person on the other end!).

Emirates A380 FAQs (2026 Update)

To wrap up, here are the latest Emirates A380 FAQs (updated January 2026), covering Premium Economy, Business Class, routes, and refurbished aircraft.

Which Emirates A380s have Premium Economy?

Emirates is progressively rolling out Premium Economy across its A380 fleet as part of its retrofit programme. This includes newly refurbished four class aircraft and the former high density two class aircraft now being converted into a three class layout.
You can identify these aircraft by checking the seat map during booking. Premium Economy appears as a 2-4-2 cabin.

If you’re booking with points, the fastest way to spot Emirates award space is using a tool like Seats.aero. I personally use the Pro version because it shows live availability, then confirm directly on the Emirates website before transferring points.

Is it better to sit upstairs or downstairs on the Emirates A380?

In most cases passengers do not choose whether they sit upstairs or downstairs on the Emirates A380. The deck you sit on depends on your cabin class and the aircraft configuration. First Class and Business Class are typically located on the upper deck, while Premium Economy and Economy are usually on the main deck.

What is the best seat on Emirates A380 Business Class?

The best seats in Emirates A380 Business Class are the true window seats (odd-numbered rows like 9A or 11K) for privacy, or the paired middle seats for couples. Avoid seats near galleys and the bar for a quieter flight.

Which Emirates A380s are refurbished?

Emirates is progressively refurbishing its A380 fleet as part of its multi aircraft upgrade programme. This includes four class aircraft as well as the former two class high density A380s, which are being converted into a new three class layout featuring 76 Business, 56 Premium Economy and 437 Economy seats.
You can identify refurbished aircraft by the presence of the Premium Economy cabin and updated Business Class interiors when viewing the seat map during booking.

How many seats are on the Emirates A380?

The Emirates A380 typically has between 484 and 569 seats, depending on the aircraft configuration. Four-class aircraft usually have 484 seats, while other three-class layouts range from about 489 to 517 seats. Newly retrofitted high-density aircraft will feature around 569 seats including Business Class, Premium Economy and Economy.

Are Emirates removing the two class A380?

Yes. Emirates has confirmed that all 15 of its high density two class A380 aircraft are being progressively converted into a new three class layout with Premium Economy installed.
Until all refurbishments are complete (expected by November 2026), both the original two class version (615 seats) and the new three class retrofit (569 seats) may still appear in booking.
Checking the seat map during booking remains the most reliable way to confirm which configuration you are flying.

Flying with Emirates has always been a pleasure for me. Their outstanding customer service stands out, and they consistently go out of their way to ensure everything runs smoothly. On more than one occasion, they’ve gone the extra mile by forwarding my luggage directly, even when I was traveling on separate tickets, saving me the hassle of rechecking bags on my connecting flights.

💡 Did you know?

In 2025, Emirates became the world’s first Autism Certified Airline™, marking a major step forward in accessible air travel. More than 30,000 cabin crew and ground staff have been trained to better support passengers with autism and sensory sensitivities, helping make the journey calmer and more predictable.

Emirates has also launched an Accessible and Inclusive Travel Hub on its website, featuring accessibility-friendly navigation, digital sensory guides, and support information organised by journey stage and individual needs. In addition, its Travel Rehearsal programmes now run across multiple global cities, allowing children with autism to practise the airport and boarding experience before flying for real. New onboard sensory products and fidget tools have also been introduced to help neurodiverse passengers manage overstimulation while travelling.

It’s these thoughtful touches that keep me coming back to Emirates every time.
